BuBu Bikes – Rental Terms & Liability Agreement

This agreement (“Agreement”) is between BuBu Bikes (“Lessor”) and the undersigned guest (“Renter”). By renting a bicycle, the Renter accepts the following terms:

1. Rental Conditions

1.1 The bicycle, lock, and accessories remain the property of BuBu Bikes at all times.
1.2 The Renter is responsible for the bicycle from the time of pickup until the time of return.
1.3 The bicycle must be returned in the same condition as received, at the agreed time and place.

2. Use of the Bicycle

2.1 The bicycle may only be used by the Renter and not loaned or sub-rented to others.
2.2 The bicycle must be used in a safe, responsible manner and in compliance with Belgian traffic laws.
2.3 The bicycle may not be used for:

• Off-road riding, racing, stunts, or commercial purposes.

• Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

3. Renter Responsibilities

3.1 The Renter acknowledges that cycling involves risks and assumes full responsibility for their safety.
3.2 The Renter agrees to use a lock whenever the bicycle is unattended and to secure it through the frame to a fixed object.
3.3 The Renter agrees to immediately notify BuBu Bikes in case of accident, theft, or damage.

4. Liability & Waiver

4.1 The Renter rides at their own risk. BuBu Bikes is not liable for accidents, injuries, or damages caused to the Renter, third parties, or property during the rental period.
4.2 The Renter releases BuBu Bikes from any claims, demands, or liability arising from the use of the bicycle.

5. Damage, Loss, or Theft

5.1 The Renter is financially responsible for theft or damage to the bicycle or its accessories during the rental period.
5.2 In case of theft where the bicycle is not properly locked, the Renter agrees to pay the replacement cost of the bicycle:

• €1,200 per bicycle

• €50 per lock

• €30 per helmet
  5.3 In case of damage, the Renter agrees to cover repair costs up to the replacement value.
  5.4 BuBu Bikes may charge the Renter’s payment method or withhold a deposit until repairs or replacement are settled.

6. Rental Period & Returns

6.1 Full-day rentals run from 09:00 to 18:00. Half-day rentals are 09:00–13:00 or 14:00–18:00.
6.2 Late returns are subject to a fee of €10 per 30 minutes.
6.3 Failure to return the bicycle within 24 hours of the agreed time may be treated as theft and reported to the police.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

7.1 Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the start time are fully refundable.
7.2 Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable, but one reschedule may be permitted subject to availability.

8. Insurance

8.1 BuBu Bikes does not provide medical or personal accident insurance for renters.
8.2 Renters are encouraged to carry their own travel or health insurance.

9. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by Belgian law. Any disputes shall be handled by the courts of Brussels.

10. Acceptance

By checking the acceptance boxes during online booking, the Renter acknowledges having read and understood these Terms & Liability Conditions and agrees to be bound by them.
